Dental & Oral Care

Dentists in the world are required to register with the dental board in the state or territory in which they practice. In 2003 there were 10,0000+ dentists registered with state and territory dental boards across the Globe.

The Dental Council (DC) is the prime self-regulatory body of the industry. It has representatives from a range of organisations associated with the standards of dental practice in the globe. It has a role in accreditation of dental education courses, occupational regulation and the assessment of the suitability for practice in Australia of dentists with qualifications from other countries. The DC's accreditation and examination functions are reflected in State and Territory Dental Acts and associated regulations, although the organisation is not a statutory body.
